This small garden created a multi-purpose outdoor space for the occupiers of terraced property in west London. The house itself was very compact and the idea of visually and spiritually connected the ‘Inside’ to the ‘Outside’ to make a real outdoor room was a vital design driver.

Although the garden only measured a modest 6 x 9 metres, the design incorporated a lawn, raised seats/ planters, a dining area for four, a herb garden, and a covered sand pit for the young family. The end of the garden was secured using a white rendered wall and a new off-set oak gate together with three pleached Photinia trees. Lighting made the garden space usable for entertaining throughout the year.
