I am a fully qualified Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute, the professional body that sets the standards
for its members in terms of behavior, ethics and qualifications. As such I have a responsibility to preserve the
natural environment as well as the human environments as embodied in the Landscape Institute’s central philosophy:
‘Creating inspiring places that connect people to their environment is what drives landscape
practice. The knowledge and vision of landscape practitioners, such as landscape architects, landscape planners and
managers, can transform the places in which we work and live…..’
I qualified from Gloucestershire College of Art & Design in 1981 with a Diploma in Landscape Architecture; became an
Elected Member in 1986; and a Chartered Member in 2006.
I am involved with the Institute’s activities by being a member of the Editorial Advisory Committee of the magazine
‘Landscape’ which is the official periodical on the Institute.
